As a postscript to yesterday's blog, we ended our day by going to the Szechenyi Baths in Budapest. It is a city park thermal complex. We took the metro there and had a grand time soaking in the thermal pools and people watching. Sorry, no pictures....
Another excellent day cycling along the Danube. We spent the day in Hungary and ended up at Esztergom. This historical city is located at a bend in the river and is home to a basilica which is third largest church in Europe. I have photos of the basilica from the boat and of the boat from the basilica.
We
The countryside from Vac, where we started to here was very pretty and quiet. Lots of spring flowers and quiet bike trails and roads. We started the day in a local market. Rob bought a smoked ham and smoked Hungarian sausage that we enjoyed at our picnic lunch. Beth got some very fresh and sweet local strawberries. It was fun to see the local citizen's arrive at the market, many very well dressed, to get their daily meat, dairy and produce. It was quite different than Walmart.
