The Final Full Day - Austria's Wachau Valley

Today was the last full day and what a day it was.   We left the boat in Krems,  Austria and cycled about 30 miles to Melk.   The weather was fantastic 70°,  dry,  sunny and light winds.

On the way we stopped and hiked up to Castle ruins in Durnstien (where Richard the Lionhart was imprisoned by the Austrian's). We had a nice wine tasting and saw the fantastic Abby at Melk.  In between these fabulous sites we enjoyed the serenity of the flowing river and simple sites of farms, churches,  boats and vineyards that were like postcards lined up for miles.

Again, we arrived back in the nick of time to catch the boat (after catching a beer and raddler in the town of Melk.

The last picture is from the stern of the boat.   If you look closely, you can see the doors of the lock closing,  with the Milk Abby in the back.
